Buy iboga root bark: tested batches with 3.4 or 5 percent

Root bark is the traditional, unprocessed form of Tabernanthe iboga. It is dried and finely ground, which is why many people also search for "iboga powder": it is the same product under a different name. Everything we sell as an extract is made from exactly this bark.

We carry two qualities: our ceremonial bark from Cameroon with 3.4 percent ibogaine and the much rarer Gabon quality from Central Africa with 5 percent ibogaine at 10.8 percent total alkaloids.

The 5 percent bark is not the better one, it is the rarer one. Whether this difference matters to you is not something we can tell you, because we give no information on use or dosage. What we can tell you: why the 5 percent is not always available.

Why 5 percent is not a stock item but a find

A single iboga shrub yields at most one kilogram of root bark over its entire life. The alkaloid content varies considerably from plant to plant. A batch with 5 percent therefore cannot be ordered, it is found.

That is exactly why we measure before we pack, and exactly why the value is printed on the pack. Anyone who promises a content for a natural product without testing every delivery is guessing.

How we test every batch

1. The complete delivery is ground.
2. It is thoroughly mixed so the content is evenly distributed.
3. Three samples are taken from three different places.
4. These samples are measured with two independent methods.
5. Only then is the bark packed and portioned.

The practical benefit for you: a 10-gram pack from a batch carries the same content as the 50-gram pack from the same delivery. Without step two that would not be the case, because stronger and weaker areas form in an unmixed sack.

Where the bark comes from

We have cultivated our own fields in Ghana since 2014. It takes 15 to 20 years before an iboga root can be harvested, so our first own harvests are still ahead. Until then we buy from fair trade: the 3.4 percent bark from Cameroon, the 5 percent bark from Central Africa.

Where does your iboga root bark come from?

From Cameroon and Central Africa, both fair trade. Since 2014 we also cultivate our own fields in Ghana, where the harvest takes 15 to 20 years.
